Sophie Agnel und Joke Lanz sind zwei international renommierte Musiker:innen, die sich in unterschiedlichen Musikbereichen etabliert haben und seit einigen Jahren auch als Duo auftreten: Sophie Agnel, Pianistin und Komponistin, ist sowohl als Solistin wie auch in vielen Formation der Improvisationsmusik aktiv. Von Free Jazz bis hin zu experimenteller Improvisation. Agnel ist bekannt für ihr agiles, präzises und innovatives Spiel mit erweiterten Klangmöglichkeiten auf dem präparierten Klavier. Auch Joke Lanz, Turntables, ist in diversen Formationen von Free Jazz bis zu experimenteller Improvisation aktiv. Weiters als Vocalist und als Soloperformer in der Noise-Musik tätig. Als Turntable Musiker nutzt er seine über die Jahre zusammengesuchte Vinylsammlung, die unter anderen aus diversen Stimmenaufzeichnungen besteht. Er fragmentiert, arrangiert und verdichtet dieses Material und setzt hie und da eine bissig humorvolle Note. Ein herausragendes Duo, das international das Publikum mit seiner unvergleichbaren Musik begeistert.

Sophie Agnel and Joke Lanz are two international active musicians renowned in several musical fields working together since a couple of years in a duo. Sophie Agnel, piano player and composer is active as soloist as well as in many formations of the improvisation genre - from free jazz to experimental improvisation. She is well known for an agile, precise and innovative aproach with extended sound possibilities on the prepared piano. Also Joke Lanz, turntable player, is active in different formations in the field of free jazz to experimental improvisation. But, he is also a well known vocalist and solo performer in the field of noise music. As turntable player he uses his collection of a great variety of vinyl records, including some special vocal recordings. He arranges sound fragments to a dense and instant composition - sometimes with a good sense of a sharp humor. A prominent duo inspiring an international audience with its unique music.

"Ich habe dieses neue Trio bereits bei dessen ersten Konzerten erleben können. Dank der Kollaboration mit dem Festival Artacts in St. Johann ist es nun  möglich das Trio nach Wien einzuladen. Luis Vicente (Trompete) aus Portugal, ist ein ausdrucksstarker freier Jazzer und experimenteller Improvisationsmusiker, der in der letzten Dekade mit diversen internationalen Formationen gut zu hören war. Mit dem Spanier Vasco Trilla (Schlagzeug und Perkussion) verbindet ihn eine lange musikalische Freundschaft. Auch Trilla ist in diesen Musikbereichen aktiv und hat sich international einen Namen gemacht. Mit einem vitalen Ideenreichtum und Klangspektrum das er leichtfüßig und  komplex arrangiert. Der Brite John Edwards (Kontrabass) ist seit Jahrzehnten tief in der Free Jazz und Improvisationsszene verwurzelt und wohl einer der facettenreichsten und energetischsten Bassspieler in diesen Szenen. Ein Trio dessen Musik vom feinsten Spiel mit Texturen und Verdichtungen bis hin zum Inferno reicht."

"I was able to experience the first concerts of this new trio. Thanks to our  collaboration with the Festival Artacts in St. Johann it is possible now to invite and present this trio in Vienna. Luis Vicente (trumpet) from Portugal is an expressive free jazz player and experimental improvisation musician who became well audible in the last decade with many international formations. A very long musical partner of him is Vasco Trilla (drums, percussion) from Spain. Trilla is active in the same musical fields and has become international renowned. With a vital imagination and sound spectrum which he arranges easily and complex. The british bass player John Edwards is since decades deeply involved in the free jazzz and improvisation music and one of the most diverse and energetic bass player of this scene. A Trio with a musical expression range from delicated play with textures and concentrations up to an inferno."

"Manche Begegnungen bleiben in Erinnerung: Wenn man Olaf Rupp auf seiner Gitarre physisch erlebt, gibt es ein davor und ein danach. Jedes Mal, wenn ich es schaffe ein Konzert dieses einzigartigen Improvisationsmeisters zu hören, bin ich begeistert. Bei diesem Konzert wird Olaf Rupp eines seiner feinsten Projekte präsentieren: Das facettenreiche Duo XENOFOX mit dem österreichischen Schlagzeuger Rudi Fischerlehner. Olaf Rupp hat in Berlin mit seiner radikal freien Improvisation schon einige Wände zum vibrieren gebracht. Rudi Fischerlehner bereichert verschiedenste Projekte von improvisierter und experimenteller Musik, Jazz und Post-Rock. Gemeinsam kreieren sie eine Musik die keinen vorgefertigten Erwartungen entspricht, sondern viele Stile und Möglichkeiten vereint und zu einem Ganzen wird. XENOFOX ist eine Band und ich liebe Bands! "Some encounters mark time: there is a before and an after experiencing Olaf Rupp on his guitar in a physical space. I am just delighted every time I manage to contribute to yet another concert of this unique master improviser. For this concert he will present one of his finest projects: the multi faceted duo XENOFOX with austrian drummer Rudi Fischerlehner. Rupp lets vibrate many walls with his radical free improvisation. Rudi Fischerlehner inspires diverse projects from improvised to experimental music, jazz and post rock. Together, their fully improvised created music is not to anticipate, their directions are many, their sound is one. XENOFOX is a band, and we love bands!"

"Katharina Klement ist eine seit langem geschätzte Kollegin, sowohl als Pianistin als auch als Komponistin. Irena Tomažin habe ich als Mitglied der letzten Ausgabe des „Šalter Ensembles“ besser kennen gelernt. Die beiden haben sich vor 10 Jahren bei einem Austauschfestival von slowenischen und österreichischen Musiker:nnen in Wien kennengelernt. Klement war sofort von Tomažin's Soloperformance gebannt, ihre stupende Vokaltechnik sowie ihr Einsatz von Körper, Gestik und Bewegung hinterließen einen starken Eindruck bei ihr. „Stimme“ so Tomažin, „ist immer eine Verortung im Raum“. Dieser Gedanke ist Ausgangspunkt für das erste gemeinsame musikalische Zusammentreffen der beiden Ausnahmemusiker:innen: Tomažin's Stimme als intimer Kern von Subjektivität in Verbindung mit vokaler Ausdruckskraft über alle Klangfacetten der Stimme hinweg trifft auf Klement's über Jahrzehnte behutsam und konsequent entfalteten instrumentalen und elektronischen Klangkosmos – eine Erstbegegnung der Superlative in Wien!"

"Katharina Klement has been a valued colleague for many years, both as a pianist and as a composer, and I got to know Irena Tomažin better as a member of the last edition of the “Šalter Ensemble”. The two met 10 years ago at an exchange festival of Slovenian and Austrian musicians in Vienna. Klement was immediately captivated by Tomažin's solo performance, her stupendous vocal technique and her use of body, gestures and movement left a strong impression on Klement. “Voice”, says Tomažin, ‘is always a localization in space’. This idea is the starting point for the first musical encounter between the two exceptional musicians: Tomažin's voice as an intimate core of subjectivity in combination with vocal expressiveness across all sound facets of the voice meets Klement's instrumental and electronic sound cosmos, which she has been carefully and consistently developed over decades - a duo encounter of superlatives in Vienna!"
